What is FindSoundMind?
During the pandemic I started streaming small DJ events and charity streams using some simple dmx-controlled lights I had purchased them years ago. I had two main motivators to host these events.
First, as a way to stay close with friends. I regularly went to concerts with my circle for years and we missed our outlet for letting loose. Seeing people react to the ridiculous lighting spectacle in my living room and having them share photos of string lights strung up at their own place during the show were highlights in an otherwise dull and scary time.
The second motivation was as a way to use creativity and emotional expression to help manage my anxiety. I had put music and lighting into the background of my life at some point and knew I needed to change that.
What started as revisiting a hobby to stay sane became a passion for lighting and lasers that grew very quickly. A few years later I was flying to Colorado to illuminate a friend’s wedding in the mountains. Another few years and I had my own fleet of professional lasers, an FDA variance, a lighting desk, and tripods stuffed up against the walls in my small condo while whiteboarding stage designs for upcoming events.
I love working with other creatives or people with a vision and helping them make it happen. And if the projects I am a part of are creating beautiful spaces and moments for people to feel alive in the like music and lights did for me…I know I’m in the right place.
